Got it. Although UK Mainland is officially Great Britain I believe.

Many people forget to mention Great Britain

4th is Skye
5th being Mainland (as in Shetland)

Over to you.

While my ignorance of pop music is almost total -- to the best of my understanding, the question material has nothing to do with music; and comes from an era well before that of Pink Floyd.

Well I thought that Matilda was on the album Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd - I think written by Syd Barrett and not Roger Waters. I am sure he got his inspiration from Hillair Belloc Cautionary Tales for Children .I could swear that Godolphin Horne was also in Cautionary Tales - but I am not sure. John Vavassour de Quentin Jones - memory fails me - but are they all characters out of Childrens books that issue warnings - or can you at least tell me if this is literature based?

I know that Matilda is a book by Roald Dahl, so is Roald Dahl the connection?

Never heard of the other two.

This has me a bit embarrassed -- I'm something of a freak, in having almost zero knowledge of / interest in / liking for pop music, of any decade. Until a very few hours ago, literally all I knew concerning Pink Floyd was that it was the name of a group; and something about "the Wall". @ GRALISTAIR : in your second post on this question, you reveal that you're au fait with Belloc's Cautionary Tales. The three bods named, are all anti-heroes / -heroines from those verses -- I'd not had the slightest inkling of any Pink Floyd connection. Matilda was economical with the truth; Godolphin Horne was the ultimate snob; J.V. de Q.J. "was very fond of throwing stones".

@ GRALISTAIR : as I now realise, you essentially got the connection. @ SteveM 70 : same goes for you -- all are subjects of Belloc's Cautionary Tales verses; but GRALISTAIR beat you to it by thirty-some minutes. @ MotCO , @ xotGD -- you're the also-rans, I'm afraid (@ xotGD, Belloc and Dahl both wrote of Matildas: Dahl's is more famous, but Belloc's came earlier in time, and is the one I was looking for).

@ GRALISTAIR : your warning to issue to brats, to try to stop them from coming to a sticky end...

So let’s go for an easier one. Flying. There are 3 main airline alliances world-wide. Part A of the question - name them.
Part B which alliance does British Airways belong to. Which one does Air France belong to and which one does Lufthansa belong to?

British Airways belongs to One World
Air France belongs to Sky Team and
Lufthansa belongs to Star Alliance.

I know that "Z Victor 1" was "Z Cars", and I thought that "Zebra Three" was something that it isn't! I know this because I've checked, so I won't offer you the answer at this stage.
