Is the link Lars von Trier the director?

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

The link is that all three pieces of music are linked with films in Lars von Trier's "Depression Trilogy".

Lascia ch'io pianga was the main theme of Antichrist. Tristan und Isolde was prominently featured in Melancholia, and Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major was featured in Nymphomaniac

Actors to have appeared in the Depression Trilogy include Willem Dafoe, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kirsten Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt, Jesper Christensen, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater and Uma Thurman. Even so, it seems I over-estimated how well known Lars von Trier's work is.

DaleCooper, the floor is yours...

In fact both Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major and Lascia ch'io pianga are on the soundtrack of Nymphomaniac: Vol. II, at least they are according to IMDb.

I didn't have a question ready but to keep things moving here's a picture question:

Of what is this a part?

That's enough, I will ignore any other posts which include Newhaven Marine.

As will I. Right, I've duly ignored your post, was it part of an old fan at Newhaven Marine? :p

Or, alternatively, is it part of some sort of 1970s gutter?

In that case I was too generous, you should have known exactly what it was!

I did - I posted my answer within seconds of seeing the picture in your question and then checking that nobody else had put the same suggestion down. I wrote it as quickly as possible to try to avoid being pipped to it.;)

So many happy memories...

Settle - Carlisle, Northeast Corridor, a mountain in Austria, somewhere in Japan and...er...um...

Not enough memories, apparently.

You are correct, Ark Royal. The berth is yours.

Thank you...

Which fictional duo were partly brought off US tv screens because the Catholic League of America thought there was open homosexuality and an inappropriate relationship between a man and a child?
