Being s STEM guy with in this case the emphasis on the M, I know the answer but will let someone else get the answer.

If you mean that you know the answer to the original question, I will give another clue after midnight (our time) and, if no one knows, ask you around lunchtime tomorrow.

No.
The square root of negative 1 is usually shown as i or j or k in mathematics.

I will take that as the answer, although I was just going to say a mathematical equation scratched into the stonework by Sir William Rowan Hamilton. It is ‘ i(squared)=j(squared)=k(squared)=ijk=-1 ‘, which is the basis of quaternion multiplication, whatever that may be. (squared) is because I can’t do the small 2 on my iPad.

That's given me a very pleasant half-hour reading on a subject I'd never heard of. I'll keep an eye out for his plaque next week (when I happen to be visiting Dublin).

As a very simplistic summary, quaternions are an alternative to vectors (which are more commonly used today) when doing calculations with 3-dimensional space, movement, etc.
