Why bother getting expensive plane tickets when you can save with Thalys

Koln-Paris- 59euros
Koln-Bruxelles- 29euros
Koln-Marseille- 129euros
Koln-London-109euros

These are for one way
Tickets can be booked in the Rail Europe office opposite the Koln Haubahntof

I've been from Paris Est to Basel. The train is comfortable but it doesn't even have a buffet! It's pot luck whether you get a trolley as well. The only thing on the train is a coffee machine. And for 5 hours and a half, I think that's unacceptable. Some trains have second class compartments and most have first class compartments. It's worth it when you get to Basel though, Switzerland is fantastic!

Koln-Marseille
this will require a change at Paris for a TGV (Train a Grande Vitesse)
Koln-London
this will require a change at (obviously!) Bruxelles

Location
Where 58's still operate in commercial service...
In summer there is a Direct TGV Thalys service from Amsterdam to Marseille. This is the longest distance you can travel on a high speed train in the world. ;)

Another good ticket is the day return Amsterdam Cologne for just EURO 49,00.

Many Dutch trainspotterd buy these tickets for trainspotting on Cologne West.

I just spand 5 days in Germany and the results can be seen this evening on my fotopic. An example is given below.
