The rear of a train is visible to the left when the car is on the level crossing. However it is difficult to infer anything from street view as you do not know the time period between the photos.

I've seen a number of examples of this in the past. It's usually caused by the fact that the Street View car will only take fresh pictures as the vehicle is moving. So if it's approaching the barriers as they've just gone down, it'll take photos as it draws up to the line, stop, then resume taking pictures once the car is on the move again.

Some that I've found in a short space of time:
http://goo.gl/maps/kjTfT - Attenborough village.
http://goo.gl/maps/fYu74 - The same view from the other side, at the station entrance.
http://goo.gl/maps/Rju1Q - Barton Lane, Chilwell - leading to Attenborough Nature Reserve.
http://goo.gl/maps/IX8mb - Again from the other side (anyone who lives/works/regularly drives past these barriers will know how busy the Nottingham MML branch is).
http://goo.gl/maps/E2QIc - MML Nottingham branch again from Meadow Lane in Long Eaton.
http://goo.gl/maps/MZKQ4 - Lock Lane on the Castle Donington line (Stenson Jn - Trent Jn)
http://goo.gl/maps/jpbly - St Albans Rd in Bulwell, next to Bulwell Forest tram stop. No sign of why the barriers are down, but it's most likely to be down for a tram (does that count?)
http://goo.gl/maps/1LrFp - Zoomed-in version of the same barriers from the other side.
http://goo.gl/maps/QcB6g - Same side, different view, different time of day.
http://goo.gl/maps/upMjM Pedestrian LC just east of Nottm station (I think this used to be a through road). No train in this view, but if you move closer to it in Street View, a freight is revealed.
http://goo.gl/maps/Vm6Hr - LC on the busy Colwick Road in Nottingham.

Off to see the family now though, so will find more for you later :D

http://goo.gl/maps/CGfmQ - Crossing at Pencoed station, South Wales.
http://goo.gl/maps/sr2oi - And another.
http://goo.gl/maps/bJRQh - And another!
http://goo.gl/maps/5B1W3 - St George's LC (S. Wales Main Line) - west of Cardiff
http://goo.gl/maps/J51Op - St Fagan's LC, near Cardiff
http://goo.gl/maps/7mR3u - Ferryside station.
http://goo.gl/maps/r1g3V - Ferryside again, from the other side

A few more for tonight.

http://goo.gl/maps/r8GCs - Oldends LC on the Gloucester-Bristol Parkway line
http://goo.gl/maps/YDiHR - LC on Alstone Lane, just north of Cheltenham Spa station - if you go onto the crossing and look left you can see a FGW Sprinter laying over in the siding.
http://goo.gl/maps/T6jfY - LC north of Ashchurch for Tewkesbury - barriers about to come down just as the Google Car had gone over it.
http://goo.gl/maps/e4QnA - Trench Ln LC, SE of Droitwich (Cheltenham-Birmingham line)
http://goo.gl/maps/jng5R - LC on Meadow Lane, just NE of Burton-upon-Trent on the Birmingham-Derby line.

If you do want me to keep looking for these... let me know!

I checked the level crossing I'm most familiar with. To my surprise, the barriers were indeed down when the Streetview car visited! https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Junction+Road,+Burgess+Hill&aq=0&oq=junction+ro&sll=50.845444,-0.130554&sspn=0.144808,0.363579&vpsrc=6&t=h&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Junction+Rd,+Burgess+Hill,+West+Sussex,+United+Kingdom&ll=50.959505,-0.122716&spn=0.000007,0.005681&z=18&layer=c&cbll=50.959593,-0.12265&panoid=zoz6bK_UnkV9RvWEiVM42g&cbp=12,206.62,,0,1.44 (Hope that link works!)

Junction Road, Burgess Hill. One of the level crossings on the Keymer Junction-Lewes "cutoff" line off the Brighton Main Line. If you travel a few "jumps" to the south and cross the crossing, you will see an impressive pile of rubble where the fabled Junction Inn once stood!...

~~~~
Ah, further down the line there's an even better one! https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&...oid=sY6gjRckTd38xHY22l5IPw&cbp=12,158.74,,0,0 At Plumpton station, the old-fashioned manual wooden gates have been closed across the line, and there's a Network Rail van, an old-style bus stop with the Countryliner logo (defunct bus company), an attractive signalbox and a very nice cottage with a mysterious number "16" plaque on it to have a look at as well. Then if you jump one picture to the south, the gates have been opened again behind the train, which is now stopped in the Up platform, and a topless cyclist has appeared out of nowhere!
http://goo.gl/maps/aZ3PZ - Denaby LC in South Yorks - I recall BBC Breakfast sending a reporter to broadcast live from this LC a couple of years ago when NR started banging on about closures.
http://goo.gl/maps/QIP80 - LC on Station Road near Bentley, on the ECML.
http://goo.gl/maps/281Zq - LC at Bentley station on the Wakefield Line.
http://goo.gl/maps/PgWYm - barriers raising on Thorne South LC, just east of the station on the line to Scunthorpe.
http://goo.gl/maps/HETiz - No idea if this counts, but a signaller is closing the manual gates on New Barnetby LC, east of the station towards Grimsby :)
http://goo.gl/maps/dqyUx - LC just to the west of Grimsby station
http://goo.gl/maps/kILd8 - Pasture St LC, west of Grimsby on the single line to Cleethorpes.
http://goo.gl/maps/plJfS - Barriers raising at Snelland LC between Lincoln and Barnetby. Reverse from this view to see the freight going over the crossing.
That's me focusing on quantity rather than quality, sorry! Quite right, and I'll try to roam around a little more to make sure there's no trains in the view :)
http://goo.gl/maps/gmwbC - Mansfield Rd LC, west of Retford.
http://goo.gl/maps/KNj4G - Grimgley Rd LC, east of Retford.
http://goo.gl/maps/sbuE3 - Torworth LC on the ECML showing yellows just as the camera car was passing over the crossing (http://goo.gl/maps/wMY5A shows the yellow before it crossed).
http://goo.gl/maps/E0mjO - Rossington crossing on the ECML.
http://goo.gl/maps/ao5tI - from the other side.
http://goo.gl/maps/RTLNf - Lights flashing but barriers yet to descend at LC in Askern (not sure which line this is, I thought I was following the ECML, but it’s not electrified!)
http://goo.gl/maps/rOh4p - back on the ECML, this is Balne crossing.
http://goo.gl/maps/2EY0k - Thorpe Gates LC, west of Selby.
http://goo.gl/maps/63Uxa - Hett Mill LC south of Durham
http://goo.gl/maps/EOVsn - Ulgham Lane LC north of Morpeth
http://goo.gl/maps/v9nI4 - St Germain's LC between Prestonpans and Longniddry
http://goo.gl/maps/VnJVW - from the other side
That's all for tonight!
!
No criticism at all - I was wondering how many shots there were without a train in view rather than how many had no train in view even when you move the viewpoint! I was pleased to note that the train could be viewed at that crossing by moving the shot away from it as I felt it was a "two for the price of one" example!
It appears to be the line to Knottingley.:D
Adding one of my own, here's the infamous Naworth AHB (move closer to the crossing and a Pacer appears):
