A little treat for all you cab video lovers (I know you're out there!), or just those that like to see what changes are made when a route is modernised.

Here is a before-and-after comparison I've done of the GWML Electrification scheme between Reading and Didcot Parkway showing the vast amount of work done over a nine year period to a live railway line. It's in a similar style to my Cotswold Line redoubling ones from seven years ago (was it really that long ago!), which are also accessible through the link below:

I'll hopefully add Paddington to Reading when everything is finished there - where although the electrification has been completed there are numerous platform extensions and station rebuilds ongoing for Crossrail.

Well done for getting the two videos almost exactly “aligned” with one another. It’s a bit like one of those Formula 1 side by sides to find out where some driver lost half a second on his lap time... :D

Haha, thanks, and yes it is, isn't it! I think the 2019 'car' is slightly ahead at the end of sector one, but overall a very close lap time. :D

Footage was recorded at 50fps so that minor time adjustments to the video speed of one of the clips to account for differing rates of acceleration and braking don't show. The one place it does show a little is on the approach to Didcot due to one of the runs having cautionary aspects.
