Hi, I’ve applied for the trainee mainline driver job with Greater Anglia almost a year ago now. I have passed the online assessment and received an email stating I am being held for the next stage (psychometric testing) on the 24/04/23. Does anyone know how long the wait will be for the next stage?

Do you mean 24/04/24?

No would be 2023. I got to that stage aswell and was in for Ilford, I'm sure many others like I and Abbie did who haven't heard a peep.

I hear that in the background here and there GA is moving people into the assessment centers etc and onto the next stages.

Getting any contact about anything from them is nonexistent unless you've moved further on from the "held for assement stage". Got two friends who also applied, heard nothing after that stage, applied for other TOCs and have since completed all the recruitment process and 1 started last month and the other in 1 months time.

It took a year for SE to get back to me and I had forgotten I had applied to them hahaha, now preparing for one assessment and a DMI as I've done assessments recently with another TOC.

Thats rail recruitment for you! Keep applying and applying till you get there!

I had the same Email on the same date. GA only hold applications for 12 months so I'd say if you've not heard anything, it's most likely a non-starter now.

I applied in 2019 and still not heard anything back haha. I've just been qualified for a year elsewhere since then!

Fair enough. I only ask because the first post was yesterday and 24th April 2024 is a few weeks away so the timing fit and that is how the post read.

It can indeed be very slow.

Haha yeah it's been long long. Typical with GA it seems, been like this I've seen in previous threads for now about 5 years

Wow! I didn’t expect them to just not respond. It’s quite disappointing, as I was really excited about it as well! What other companies could I apply to? I’m willing to relocate and just applied to southeastern, but would be great if anyone knows any other companies I could try!

Also what I’m confused about is at the bottom of the email it states “if you have not heard anything relating your application for any given period of time, please be advised that your application has not been forgotten, it is simply at the same stage as mentioned above.” But they’ve also said they’ll hold the application for up to a year. Not completely sure whether it will stay at this stage until there is spaces at the stations I applied to or if they’ll only hold it for a year

I'd wait for other toc vacancies and apply to those your within their specified depot target range. GA like other TOCs won't always get back to a candidate especially if it's been over a year, that's not to say its not possible but by now if you've not heard anything then I very much doubt the application is still on their table.

GA since the campaign started, have moved thru with candidates into the assessment centers etc and those who have completed the full recruitment stage have since been in training for Mainline or Depot Driver.

Notably they've had a few qualified driver campaigns out for a while now, might not garner much attention but also shows they're current focus.

Emails just been sent out confirming previous applications have reached the 12 month time limit. Also confirms that more vacancies to be advertised this Friday (12th April) as per the post above.

I'm unaware of Mainline being readvertised as the email update for it doesn't mention the 12th of April for new vacancies like the depot driver email does.

The Email I received was only as specific as 'vacancies'. I had applied for a mainline position.

I received the same email. Just out of curiosity did anyone actually fill the position for that vacancy in the end? Haven't been following this thread

Multiple people have progressed to Assessment stage and start dates in that time. Process was always on going from what I heard and saw.

Interesting I see, tbh they do have quite a few qualified posts out and it's been a year since the last campaign so it could be time for the next mainline and depot trainee campaigns

There was a large amount of people in the waiting pool for the next stage( multiple depots), stage 1 some have been waiting for years for the next stage. I believe most people have been taken off that list to clear the back log of people as it would be difficult to monitor those people still outstanding . I assume on Friday there will be new vacancies for trainee driver jobs, and everyone applying will be starting from scratch
