Afternoon all,

Could anybody who has recently been through the process successfully shed some light on timescales after being made a provisional offer pending medical?

How long should one expect to wait for results and a job offer following medical?

If successful, is the next step being offered a start date? when would one expect to be signing a contract?

Thanks in advance to any who can offer any insights

Hello, for me it was:

- Provisional offer pending medical which included the provisional start date
- Contacted for medical the following day (there was a cancellation so I’m not sure how quick this is set up normally, I suppose it depends on what course they’re looking to fill and how long away it is)
- Medical the following day, 2 days since provisional offer
- Confirmed medical was passed 15 days after medical, official offer was then emailed later that day after confirming I was still good for the start date which was just under 2 months away

Thank you for the reply!

It’s reassuring to hear that you had to wait 15 days for confirmation after your medical, i have waited a little over a week now and was worried something had gone awry.

Curiously, my provisional offer didn’t include a start date, but i’ll try not to read too much into that.

Thanks again

Does anyone know how easy it is to transfer within roles at GA? I’m still hoping I’ll hear about driving, as no one on here has mentioned they’ve yet heard about my local depots I applied for, but I’ve noticed some trainee conductor roles being advertised. Could that be used as a stepping stone role to the internally apply for driving?

I'm not sure about GA specifically but many on here talk about TOCs hiring many trainee drivers from already within the company and with the experience on the trains you'd think it'd help a good amount.

It's always a stepping stone. If you've already worked for the company they will know you, your work ethic and your record, and will know your suitability for the role providing you pass all the psychometrics. It seems GA do invest in their staff. My partner was a guard and now a driver and there are a few at my local depot who started out as guards as well

Thank you both.
Guard is not really the job I want, it’s something I could do, but I might apply if it’s a good stepping stone.
I’m still hoping that my name might get pulled out of the hat for the trainee positions at my local depots I applied for, but planning for other eventualities just incase.

Which depots did you apply for out of curiosity?

Good evening,

Is anyone else in the same position as me?

I applied for the role of Trainee Train Driver with Abellio Greater Anglia back in November/December.

I subsequently passed the first two stages, including the SJT. I’ve been waiting to hear back ever since - what should I do? I fear sitting around won’t achieve much! I worked for LU before and they were just as slow (industry standard)!

Can anyone reassure me?

Aziz

Don’t give up hope your odds of proceeding are better now than probably ever . GA need record number of drivers . The process is quick when you are in it after being hung out to dry for months . Has anyone been to Stratford to do the psychometric tests recently? If so can you tell me if they are all on same day or split over 2 and if so can you remember the order of them . Asking for a friend as I passed mine with GN not GA

emailing won’t speed up the process when it’s time you will get your shot or you won’t . If you have worked in a safety critical role you have more chances equally if you are on the railway more chance .

Can confirm. Qualified driver here that put an application in at the same time as you lot. Emailing does not speed up the process! There's only one person who deals with all the applications for all positions and grades over the whole of GA
Just be patient:)

It’s split over 2 days. Day 1 are the 5 paper tests (group bourdon, Tea-OCC, DFFT, TRP 1 & 2), then day 2 was the 3 computer tests and the MMI if the computer tests were passed

I did my stage 1 at the start of the month. Waiting for stage 2 currently. They told us at the point they said we’d passed the first stage they were aiming to do stage 2 at the end of march, but I’ve not heard anything about it yet. I think they’re just incredibly slow at getting everything through with just one guy handling it.

Just got the email inviting me to take some online assessments, would be very grateful for any advice on what I should expect as this is the first time I’ve applied for a driver role. (Also need to see if anyone at home has a laptop I can use!)
Any one know how look the psychometric test for trainer train driver at Great Anglian !

Well I have come to the conclusion sitting around waiting for them to contact you with a date for stage 2, is far worse than waiting to hear if you’ll get a chance at all knowing I’m halfway ish through the system but sat waiting again is horrendous

Not to be a bearer of bad news but you might be waiting a lot longer, I did my stage 1 in December but haven't heard anything since. I don't think the waiting is too bad I'm more happy to of done stage 1 so I know they're interested in me and I do actually have a chance

Oh for sure! I’m definitely glad to know I’m definitely in with a chance. Just a shame it takes so long. When i passed the stage 1 they said they were hoping to get the stage 2 done at the end of March/beginning of April, but that’s been and gone now. I’ll just keep waiting. I also just really want out of my current job

Has anyone been invited for an interview at Clacton Station for the Trainee Depot Driver post?

I’ve done stage 1 for trainee depot and mainline for Clacton.

Thank you! I was just wondering if you had tried emailing the company actually about the second stage? I have recently completed the second set of tests (last week) after emailing them directly chasing (I waited 4 weeks for a reply after passing the first set of tests initially).

Who did you email about stage 2? I sent an email a while back but never got a reply. And Congrats on completing all the tests hopefully you'll get invited for the DMI soon

I haven’t. I’ve been sat patiently waiting for them to contact me with the next stage. I would also be interested to know who you emailed to chase them about the next stage.
