thank youTransition metals Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu all form compounds and complexes which are usually coloured. Copper Sulfate many will remember is blue. Copper Carbonate is green. Copper reacts first with oxygen to from Copper Oxide and then with the atmospheric moist carbon dioxide to form the carbonate.
2Cu +O2 --> 2CuO CuO + CO2 --> CuCO3 (green)
