I believe they're required for Uckfield and Milton Keynes services from Selhurst.

Selhurst conductor routes:
London Bridge - East Croydon via Forest Hill (the conventional way) and via South Bermondsey, Tulse Hill and Streatham (diversionary)
East Croydon - Uckfield
Hurst Green - East Grinstead (diversionary)
East Croydon - Victoria via Selhurst, Norbury and Clapham Jn
Clapham Jn - Milton Keynes Ctl via the West London Line
Selhurst - Guildford via West Croydon, Sutton and Epsom
Leatherhead - Dorking (diversionary)
All of Selhurst Depot, including the far-flung corners thereof

A far cry from what it used to be (up until recently, routes included Brighton / Tonbridge / Horsham and a few more diversionary wriggles). But still just about enough to keep you going.

Traction is 171 (diesel) and 377 / 387 (electric). No booked work on 455s any more.

Earliest start is a longstanding 0333hrs, latest finish is 0203hrs ish. Rest day patterns are different from all other Southern crew depots and are almost entirely inexplicable. Night turns may return in the very dim and distant future, perhaps if the Uckfield Line ever runs any later. The roster will soon become a single "link" which will mean you will take at least a year to rotate through it.

Are sundays part of the working week for Selhurst conductors? :)

Southern Conductors have Sundays outside the working week, and paid a slightly enhanced rate, but they are obliged to work them unless it is possible to find someone who wants to do the overtime to cover that duty. This is reasonably common, but not at all guaranteed, and the responsibility is always on the individual conductor to cover any Sunday duties that they do not want to work. In theory Rosters can be requested to do it for you if they have the capacity, but the chances are about as close to zero as you’re likely to find, and it’s “on you” if they can’t do so.

There is also a disadvantage in that adhoc leave cannot generally be booked on Sundays. The only Sunday you’ll get on leave is the one in the middle of the two week block of summer annual leave.
