For those who have heard this week, can I ask the date you submitted your application? Still nothing from southern or thameslink for me.
I put mine in for Southern and TL on the 9th December, still nothing at all!For those who have heard this week, can I ask the date you submitted your application? Still nothing from southern or thameslink for me.
I've had a response yesterday for Thameslink with details of online assessments.Anyone heard from northern ??
Keep an eye out, I put mine in on the 8th and heard yesterday.I put mine in for Southern and TL on the 9th December, still nothing at all!

Def stay positive. No news is good news. I'm still waiting from Southern. Got the yes from TL.anyone had the unsuccessful email from TL yet? Both quiet so far for me which I'm taking as a positive ish thing!
It must be soon. No news is good newsThanks. I put mine in for southern on 8th and thameslink on 13th
It's very odd then. I live a 5 min drive away from Barnham and forty mins from Brighton but it's Thameslink I got the yes from , I haven't heard from Southern.I'd be quite surprised if you got a yes for both. GTR HR are, and i can't believe i'm saying this, pretty smart. They will look at your postcode and usually put you at the company/depot with the closest vacancy to you.
Lots of trainees from when i started had applied to Southern but got put on GN or TL recruitment pathways.
i presume this is with GTR. Hard to say in this industry. It could be a couple months or more. If its GTR you will likely hear back at some point. the railway industry is very slow and considering its a national lockdown it will inevitably be even slower.Hi all
I applied for the trainee train driver position at Brighton that closed on 13 Dec 2020. I haven’t heard anything yet and was just wondering if anyone else has or how long it usually takes for a response? If I’m unsuccessful, will they let me know or will I just never hear back?
Thanks in advance!
Yes sorry it is with GTR. That’s fair, I just hope to hear back regardless of whether I’m successful. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and carry on the waiting game!i presume this is with GTR. The railway takes its time in the best of climates, It can take months and months to hear anything back. This coupled with the current Covid-19 climate and small HR teams you could be waiting a while.Hi all

Well said . Just get on with life, do not leave your current job and hope for good news someday.A week? A month? A year? Maybe two?
Unfortunately you need to get round to the idea that when you apply for a position the company in some cases can do a projection of what’s going to happen in a couple of years time and get the ball rolling early. Sometimes it’s much sooner.
When I started 12 years ago by the time I’d actually been invited for assessments I actually forgot I had applied altogether. It took over a year for my TOC to get back to me.. some other drivers sit in talent pools for years.
My best advice to all of you who have applied this just forget that you applied, get on with life..so when you do get some (hopefully good news) it can carry some extra joy. HR will go at whatever pace they feel like, always been that way Im afraid regardless of TOC. Plus with the current climate no company is really desperate for drivers.
Good luck to everyone.
If I'm not mistaken, you applied on the 8th for southern and 13th for thameslink. This is another example that we cannot predict when we will get an answer. I applied on the 7th for all, and received a NO from thameslink before Christmas but nothing yet from the others. No news is good news until proven otherwiseI just got a rejection from southern. Still nothing from thameslink
So I think the original advert across all the TOC's was 150 roles. At 100,000 applicants that's 666 applicants per role. If I was a betting man which im not I wouldn't bet on a 666-1 horse. LolA friend of mine who works for GN said 100,000+ applications were made. Sounds unreal but obviously at a fast pace this process won’t be quick!
But if you did and it came in you’d be well chuffedSo I think the original advert across all the TOC's was 150 roles. At 100,000 applicants that's 666 applicants per role. If I was a betting man which im not I wouldn't bet on a 666-1 horse. Lol
Always worth a couple of quid i suppose or in this case an application because someone has to get it. LolBut if you did and it came in you’d be well chuffed
Can I ask what role your friend has at GN?Always worth a couple of quid i suppose or in this case an application because someone has to get it. Lol
Sorry not my friend. Its a different post by Ladder23 you need to reply to.Can I ask what role your friend has at GN?
Just seems odd as I have heard many different numbers but none that high haha! Terrifying amount of people!

Thats mad, so around 10 months in and your still in the process but still not guaranteed to get a job. Crazy isn't it.Also many of us still waiting for dmi's from the previous recruitment drive in March how this effects this latest one i have no idea but same depots and tocs so it must be factored in.
