What is the reason why all Southern Rail 377s that go North of Clapham Junction towards Watford Junction and Milton Keynes Central still require a Guard onboard? Is there any reason why these services never went DOO when all of the other services did a few years ago?

I know all the London North Western Railway trains still require a Guard on that route but that can not be the reason why. Southern Rail have operated DOO deep in to the SWT network to Eastleigh and Portsmouth and Southampton for many years now. So i am not sure what the actual reason is. It seems strange as they are the only 377s (other than the Redhill to Tonbridge services worked by Southeastern crews) that require Guards still.

Does anyone know know more about why these trains still require Guards to be onboard as i would be very interested to know if there is a specific reason for this? Also is there any plan for these services to go DOO in the future?

Do the stations north of Shepherds Bush have the necessary infrastructure (platform cameras, mirrors, etc) that are required for DOO?

They don't go to Milton Keynes anymore

I thought there wasn't a Safety case for the WCML

Till recently the now axed Guildford class 377 services required a Guard for part of their journey
