GWR app refunds

Hi all,

My phone died during a journey from Paddington to Thames Valley with an electronic phone ticket, and I bought a single from London back to destination from the gateline. They said I can claim a refund.

The GWR website isn't the best in this regard, do I write this off as a loss or is it worth pursuing?

Was it an Advance (fixed time) ticket or a flexible one ?

If Advance apply with copy of replacement ticket to customer services for a possible customer service gesture.

If flexible apply for refund through app, but they might try charge you tenner so refer to previous advice for the advance type.

From GWR app faq:
Can I amend my ticket?
You can amend your mobile ticket by calling our Online Support team on 0345 7000 125.
Can I get a refund?
For Anytime, Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak tickets you should apply for a refund through your GWR online account.
Not all tickets (e.g. Advance fares) are refundable. For more information visit our unused ticket refund page
Where can I find a record of my ticket?/ I can’t find my ticket
e-Tickets are stored in the mobile app, under ‘MY TICKETS’.
If you chose to collect your ticket from a station, or have it delivered by post, details will show under the My Bookings section of My Account on GWR.com.

Appears may be easier signing on to gwr.com rather than using app?
