Little birdie tells me there may be one out in traffic tomorrow
Interesting, I know there was a single 150 on the Tarka Line today so maybe it could go with that tomorrow but then again I heard that 143s were in a way last resort for the Tarka Line due to it not being good for their wheels so will probably go onto Exmouth to Paignton if it does happen.

Exmouth - Paignton on the 166 diagram, if that means anything to you.

Yep that is great, thanks :)

I assume there is a shortage of 150s or 158s being able to cover it so the 143 is needed?

In a roundabout way, it's a bit of everything!
Shortage of train crew atm coming into affect too?

Any idea on which unit it will be as I know 143617 and 618 are available for use but not sure about 619 as it is still at SPM currently I think and I know the allocations are not usually done until about 2 or 3am if I am correct??

Not one to say I told you so, but....

Hope 618 gets saved, was my first boys first ever train ride on that, Starcross to Exeter St Davids, only reason I know the number is that I took a pic of it arriving in front of the pushchair on the platform lol
From what I was told last week when getting 612 ready to move off SPM, two of the 'Franchise Assets' which are 617, 618 and 619 are to be preserved, but not known which two, or by who.

Shortage of train crew atm coming into affect too?

619 is officially 'in reserve', but Bristol main line drivers are not passed on the class, and finding a spare Exeter one to come and fetch it is problematical given our covid situation.

143603 is to move to SPM together with a 150 and a 158 which require the wheel lathe.

I was taking some videos this morning from the Rockstone footbridge near Dawlish and caught this Class 143 on an Exmouth service, I Was doubting my sanity until I checked here! This is my first post so hoping I have got the link right.

A bit of a weird question but I'm sure someone will know about it,
While out on 143618 today I noticed it seems to be fitted throughout with some of the old style northern moquette (see attached photos),
I'm sure there is logical reasoning behind this but I'd be grateful if anyone could shed some light on it,
Thanks in advanceIMG_20201218_121714.jpgIMG_20201218_121751.jpg

I'm guessing the GWR seat covers it did have have been taken out and used in 150207, which still had Northern seat covers.

Was thinking it would be something like that, guess they weren't expecting to need to bring it back into service. Thanks

I expect they swapped with 150207 as pointed out above, but also nearly all the 150's have the grey/green seat covers so makes sense to keep them as spares

1220 Paignton to Exmouth is currently about 30 down, and terminating at Exeter. Not sure how this will affect the unit's workings.

Usually in that case the train would simply duck into New Yard at Exeter and await its next booked working west to Paignton.

I’m thinking maybe 150207 now has 143618’s seat covers so technically this would be a swap.

As previously mentioned, the seat covers from the franchise assets were all to be removed and used as spares for the 150s. 207, (which is stopped waiting to be tyre turned) will likely have those taken from a 143 now.

617, 618 and 619 were always intended to be kept in reserve 'just in case'. Indeed 603 is still shown on the available list.

I'm assuming 207 already has 618's seats as 618 definitely has all Northern purple ones now!

618 is the preferred one to be used I believe

Have 617 and 619 had their GWR ones removed too? Presuming 1 x 143 doesn't have enough for 150207 anyway lol.

The opportunity to put it to good use was obviously one that couldn't be resisted . Maybe same again tomorrow ! It's great to have a depot that is seemingly till of proactive people to turn that back out!

As much as I'll be glad to see the back of them, I'm glad common sense has been used today and maybe tomorrow, rather a pacer than struggle with a 2 car

I hope they all get a final outing as I missed their last official day.
As already discussed, the last day to have them all out was back in October. I can't recall having all 8 out at all in any day this year, but am likely to be wrong.

617 and 618 are the only two in a position to be used.

I would say 618 has a fair chance of being out tomorrow.

The weather being extremely Devonian! I'm down there over Xmas - exact days TBC but won't be more than the Government's recommended four nights. Don't think I'll get to Dawlish though - probably a case of I get to mum's, I'm cooped up there bar daily exercise!

143618 detached at Exeter, and is no longer in service. Everyone now has to sit in the reasonably busy 150.

Has been said elsewhere that tonight 150216 and 143603 will be heading to Bristol on 2M72 which would make sense as I know 143603 is due to go up to Bristol to then go by road to join 612 in the near future...

There was another solo 150 out today - I had 234 on its own on the 16:03 from Newton Abbot to Paignton.
