The service 2 hours behind it (1930 Padd-Weston?) also detaches at Bristol TM and that set then attaches to the 2129 Taunton-Padd on its return.

Just thinking, will the 800s be kept on depot during the christmas blockade? Pretty sure they wouldn't be cleared into Marylebone, but what about departing from Slough?

Why should there be a problem departing from Slough? The diversions to Marylebone are only taking place on Dec 24th and 27th, and on those dates trains will be running between Bristol TM and Reading, and from the Cotswold Line to Slough, but it will be down to the diagrammers and how many HSTs are required to maintain the service.

I probably worded that a bit incorrectly, what I meant was one assumes they would be fine running from a Slough start (or Reading). But then as you say it's down to diagrammers what they'd use. Just wondered if the 80x had done any off-route tests in the event of an emergency diversion. I know they sent one up to Ascot, but I wonder if that was just with horse racing specials in mind.

In an emergency, there is effectively zero chance of an off-route diversion to anywhere, e.g. Waterloo or Marylebone. GWR don't do it now with HSTs, so I can't see that it would be any different with IETs. Pathing and crew/pilot availability have to be carefully organised well in advance when the booked diversions happen.

The full route into Waterloo via Ascot will be cleared for IET operation but probably not a priority for gauging checks to be done just yet and I suspect the trip to Ascot and back had rather more to do with checking that the train's systems would behave themselves in a 750v DC area than anything else.

A potential problem at Slough would be changing ends, with a 10 car unit. The down main will take 7/8 Mk3 coaches and the up and down relief only 5 coaches. It’s not possible to change ends on the up main without a shunt. So would be fine with a 5 car unit but not so easy with a 10 car.

I see 16.26 CDF PAD caped at BPW. Presumably no IET for 19.30 PAD WSM?
Hopefully we'll have an HST instead.

Could the driver not walk through the train for a bit and then get out?

This was the 15:29 out of Swansea yesterday..800010+800012 - I was on this and it was 15 late leaving Swansea because one of the external doors would not close properly Did it not make it to Paddington then?

It's been discussed together with the details in the Class 800 thread as it is not a diagramming matter. Mods have already reminded us of this

Do we know when the next set of IEP diagrams will be introduced?

I assume the second set started OK?

I can look it up on RTT if needs be, but does anyone know off-hand what times they go off Reading (towards Padd)? Might be able to get one tomorrow if the times suit.

You can get all four current diagrams - thus eight haulages - quite easily if you have the time:

11.45 Paddington - Reading.
12.34 Reading - Paddington.
14.15 Paddington - Reading.
15.05 Reading - Paddington.

Looks like I'm going to miss the first of those as this here LM is running very slowly[1] and likely to get to Euston about 10 down, and it was tight anyway. However the 1200 to Bristol would appear to get me to Reading in time for the 1234 back (just).

Does anyone know if that train *is* actually an 800 today, as I might as well save the fare if not.

[1] Problem on the slows I guess, we've just shifted to the fasts.

11th December with another 2 HST sets replaced (going off lease 31/12/17). 2 x 5 car sets off Stoke Gifford, 2 x 5 car sets off Maliphant, the first SX IET start off that depot.

1234 off Reading is an HST (my back is glad of the nice Grammers), I guess the rest of that diagram is also likely to be HST. Glad I made the outbound!

Sat in the single seat at the back, staff are talking about it, apparently they considered swapping it at Bristol Parkway for the 800.

1415 off pad is HST today (to CDF). Don't know if that'll continue for the day or not?

Many thanks, isn't the 19:30 Western service an IET (Diagram 3?)

There's engineering work between Didcot and Swindon so you'll need to check what ECS's are booked to leave either Stoke Gifford or North Pole to work out what if any services this Sunday will be Class 800. They might be confined to the Swindon-Bristol shuttles.

EDIT: There could be a Class 800 on one of the Swindon-Cheltenham shuttles on Sunday as the stock to form 1G14 09.37 Swindon-Cheltenham is booked off ECS from Stoke Gifford:
