GWR Pay dates

Hi, I'm starting a new career on the railway with GWR on the 2nd January. Can anyone tell me when GWR get paid in Jan please, just so can budget for the month. Thanks in advance.

Hey, welcome to GWR! Pay in January is is on the 5th so you'll get your first pay in February! Hope this helps :)

Do they still pay 4-weekly? I hope so. When we got privatised one of the first things our "businessman entrepreneur" owner did was to move us to monthly pay. He saved the costs of one set of bank transfers every year, we had to get used to pay not coming in every 4 weeks, and we worked for him for nothing on the 29th Feb every 4 years!

By law it should have been consulted on with a staff veto permissable, but that's not how he worked, and the railway unions aren't really very militant or assertive.

If you're concerned about budget and pay dates. Ensure you have your p45 to ensure payroll calculate the correct tax and use the right tax code. If you don't have a p45 get the starter check list process underway and get them to confirm it's all sorted before pay day.
