Did anyone get to the end of the data checking test? Feel like I did OK but I didn't reach the last question!

Generally aptitude tests aren’t meant to be finished in full. It’s about working quickly but accurately.

Questions were also in a different order to LNER., GWR had (in my opinion), harder ones earlier., so didn’t get as far in this one..

Google maps says my journey to the station is typically 45 mins to 1 hr 5 mins, if I leave at 0800.

Will they use the 1st or 2nd time?

I have already applied for Plymouth which was in September but only completed video interview on that one.

Cheers

They will look at peak rush hour I think (was certainly the case for SWR. They checked I could make my shift which starts at 3pm.) I was right at the cutoff and luckily they deemed this acceptable. Other times my travel time is far below the hour limit.

I answered 37 out of 50 with 33 correct. That scored in the 99th percentile so I don't think anyone could possibly have finished.

Does anyone have any advice for answering the SJT questions? I scored in the 99th percentile for error checking but only 45th for SJT and didn't get invited to interview.

Did you contact them for the specific detail in your scores? I didn’t get invited to interview either and I didn’t notice any detailed results in the “sorry but thanks” email.

My suggestions would be., only do what you’re trained to do (i.e. you’re not a doctor), don’t be afraid to challenge unsafe situations (even if a more experienced person says something)., I’m sure there’s more, just can’t remember what they asked now..

Yes, it is annoying they don't just give them to you but they are required to under GDPR if you ask.

Yeah that's generally what I tried but it's difficult when you have multiple answers on how to challenge things. Just heard back that I actually passed the SJT initially but then they raised the pass mark in response to their being a lot of applicants so I failed. Thank you for the help, I am going to make a priority list for next time to try and work through for each scenario

That’s the problem with aptitude tests generally. I layman’s terms, if you score an “C” amongst 1,000 applicants who mostly scored D or below, you’ll pass, but if you score a C when most others scored C or above, you’d probably not be progressed.

These tests aren’t intended to be completed generally. Better to answer 37 and get 33 correct than to answer al 50 and get 37 correct.
