A historical question if I may.

In NSE days were there "NSE only" fares from MKC to Euston, or were these first introduced by Silverlink at privatisation?

IIRC the first non Intercity walkup fares were offered from Peterborough, and that was post privatisation. ISTR that these had been proposed by user groups in BR days.

There is a "Via Northampton" route, though it's mostly used for season tickets at present. I wonder if this might have been used in the past?
