Went to a football match in manchester in 1978, had a 'couple' of pints and caught the 18:05 manchester - glasgow train intending to get get off at carlisle for the train to whitehaven, fell asleep at lancaster and woke up at motherwell, carried on to glasgow and explained what had happened and the rail staff took pity on me and let me ride for free on the euston sleeper back to carlisle, spent the night in the waiting room and caught the first bus back to whitehaven (there were no sunday trains to whitehaven then) !!
