So when HS2 is launched we will have 2 ways to travel and from Birmingham (3 if you include Chiltern) Who ever operates the franchise v HS2, what sort of fare differential can we expect? I'm sure there will be a hell of a premium to pay for travelling to Brum in 40 mins as opposed to 1 hour 20mins.

I remember when BEA followed by British Midland flew from Heathrow to Birmingham and it took 30 mins but the cost was quite reasonable then.

HS2 services are currently budgeted to be a 10% fare premium over current Virgin prices.

At a guess, it will be similar to the fair structure that SouthEastern have with their "NOT HS1" being cheaper than the ones that are valid on HS1?
