Is it confirmed they’re for Mexico or is that speculation?

Minor point - the rail haul is to the carriage sidings just west of Gt. Yarmouth station. The Outer Harbour is about 3 miles away and is not rail connected.

Sorry to ask as this may have been answered elsewhere, but does anyone know exactly how many sets/rakes are destined for Mexico?

Is it confirmed if the cross country sets will be joining those being exported?

People do, but they won’t be posting on here (or anywhere else) because it’s commercially confidential.

Sure, but has there not been an official announcement about the export deal or any press release about the number of vehicles etc?

I've not seen anything having been formally published about it. It would most likely be from the Mexico end, rather than here. For the owners it is just another vehicle disposal.

Could you elaborate on why vehicle disposals are treated so sensitively? I'm just curious as, atleast from the perspective of someone outside the leasing business, I can't immediately think of a way in which disclosure could compromise the business moving forward?

I suppose that's somewhat typical of railways outside the UK - even as close to home as mainland Europe, rail seems to have a much smaller following and extensive information is much harder to come by. New train fleets must be much less newsworthy in Mexico!

I can fully understand why everyone involved has been rather secretive regarding the Mexico deal. Tren Maya is seen as a very controversial project by the Mexican people, and with the Mexican Government spending a lot of money on it (and reportedly using military powers as well as it running late), it’s no wonder why public details are scant.

In the case of the exports, there may be more than one option for the end buyer (e.g. in Mexico they may well have had a look at ex-Amtrak equipment) so there is sensitivity around it. For normal disposals, why bother? There's no business benefit in it - it's just another transaction. Just because we may be interested as enthusiasts, it doesn't justify the owner making announcements about it.

The Arklow Raven docked at Soton this evening. I'll keep a watch in case she heads to Yarmouth.

More Mk3s (at least 8) of various types including LNER, EMR and FGW headed by 37608 at Ely

Edit: not sure if this is the right path.

Yes, indeed. There is nothing showing up as due to arrive there that could take this sort of cargo. Will keep watching!
