Hello,

Does anyone know the order in which HST power cars are set to be scrapped? I’ve trawled the internet relentlessly and haven’t had any luck so far. I’m trying to figure out which power cars are most likely to make it into 2024, since GWR have stated they will be running castles for longer than originally expected.

43188 returned from a major overhaul in November so I’m guessing it will be one of them, however I’m not sure which other 7 power cars are likely to continue operating.

125 Group has been publishing the information on which power cars are likely to go when in their quarterly magazine.

There is no publicly available information on it; it just doesn’t work like that. The above mentioned publication uses best information available to come up with an estimate, I believe.

In situations like this a failure in service could well lead to immediate withdrawal, as they won't want to spend money on something that's doomed anyway.

That depends on who owns the vehicle and what has been contractually agreed. If the leasing company that owns a vehicle has a future use then they will want it back in working order.

Is their quarterly magazine available somewhere online or subscription only?
