Hull Trains problems 29/05/2012

Saw this on the service disruptions section of the NR website.

Description
Due to train faults on Monday 28 May 2012, First Hull Trains will be running an amended timetable on Tuesday 29 May 2012.

The following alterations will apply:


Hull - London Kings Cross
08:25 Hull to London Kings Cross will terminate at Doncaster
15:10 Hull to London Kings Cross will start from Selby
17:10 Hull to London Kings Cross is cancelled




London Kings Cross - Hull
07:20 London Kings Cross to Hull is cancelled
11:48 London Kings Cross to Hull is cancelled
13:48 London Kings Cross to Hull will terminate at Selby
20:30 London Kings Cross to Hull will start from Doncaster

I recall last year HT had issues with trains as well. Wonder if the same problem has cropped up.

Does anyone know what the cause of this amended timetable is? Looking at the times, it looks like its affecting more than one diagram, so does this mean that at least two trains have failed?

The 180s are great trains if its around 13 degrees. Under that and they breakdown, over that and the engines over heat. I know one was on 2 engines yesterday so will have been taken out of service today.

Is this why there was trouble on the East Coast last night (Monday 28th). At KGX at 19:30, most trains were late boarding, and (according to Mrs O) Grand central and Hull trains were being cancelled. The 19:33 to Leeds left 10 minutes late and lost time steadily throughout; the next Leeds train was even more delayed. If not an Adelante nightmare, any ideas as to what was happening?
