I have a question about LED AWS signaling equipment.

While studying machinery, I also watch railroad cars.

I'm writing this because I have a question while watching YouTube.

I would like to ask a question about the AWS signal equipment of existing old vehicles, not new vehicles.
(eg. class 390. class 66. class 57. class 321)

While watching YouTube, I saw a vehicle cab where the AWS signal equipment was replaced with a new LED type.

Some vehicles have also replaced the warning sound speaker.

What I want to know is, I want to know the AWS signaling equipment manufacturers.

What you want to know while looking at the English page of Wikipedia is to write a report on the new LED AWS equipment replaced on a train equipped with TPWS standard type.

For reference, I am a Korean, but in the case of Korean railways, Hyundai Rotem is the only train manufacturer.

However, due to the severe monopoly of Hyundai Rotem, there is a limit to its technological prowess.

TPWS has always been a Thales product - as I understand it they developed it; although the company was known as Redifon-MEL at the time (a Thomson-CSF subsidiary). Thomson-CSF was re-brand as Thales not long after they acquired Racal.

Yes, they could be using LED when they mean LCD, which would account for use on DMIs - unless there are any units getting about where the sunflower is an LED array rather than the mechanical wheel?

I would expect that spare parts are available, but over time, British rolling stock will be converted to Mk4 TPWS supplied by Thales (soon to become Hitachi Rail) and Unipart.

For reference, it says that it was delivered to a new train operated by Greater Anglia.

That is a good observation. I work mainly on freight vehicles, which is why I haven’t seen a lot of Mors-Smitt equipment, apart from relays.

According to this datasheet, they offer a rack-mounted TPWS+STM control unit that connects to either a physical or ’virtual’ driver interface. It looks like Mors-Smitt has been adopted on Bombardier/Alstom and Stadler multiple units.
