Hi Daly,
I did my interview at kings cross with steve castle and mick carpenter just this last month.
They are both really great and really knowledgeable. Both Steve and Mick ask you questions in a similar style to the MMI so for example "name a time where you have shown good customer service". They asked me around 4-6 questions. I can't stress enough you need to learn about the company, the first question they asked me prior to the main interview questions was "what can you tell me about GTR" if you fire a blank at this question it won't look good, first impressions and all.
I memorised the values and visions and recited that back as well as the structure of the company mentioning keolis and share percentage etc, if you can find it there is also safety records online if you can write a short two sentences and commit it to memory about that then you're on too a winner
Its okay to be nervous; I told them i was, just don't be a wreck.
This is the DMI so as much as its about the answers its about how you come across, if they feel you aren't suitable for the job as you're cocky, your too nervous or they plain just don't like you then you won't get passed. Just be yourself.
Finally at the end they will ask you a question to see if you have any questions, apart from coming across as eager if you ask the right questions take this opportunity they are really knowledgeable, I cannot remember which one was a (area?) driver manager and which was a driver instructor but between they have mountains of info. I asked about the stresses on family life during the initial training and also once qualified what is the scope for progression and promotion. These questions told the interviews A) I don't take the course lightly and have put considerable thought into it and B) I am looking further than train driver showing more ambition than the norm.
Thats about it I reckon mate! Oh also, arrive early, better an hour early than one minute late and make sure you wear at the very least a shirt and trousers. I wore a white shirt and pair of trousers with polished to death shoes, If you have suit and feel comfortable then go for it.
Interviews last from anywhere between 45 mins to an hour and a half by my research. took me 55 mins ish... And its fairly relaxed its not like the MMI in terms of interaction, you get a hell of a lot more back from the interviewer/s.
Any specific questions feel free to ask.
And good luck
