IF you think Dresden is beautiful now you should have seen it before the war. Similarly with Nurnburg and Bremen.

It still is lovely, the 'new town' is what is being referred to as being ugly. It's just functional buildings not designed for aesthetics.

I'll agree with that. The Neustadt was rebuilt in the style favoured by the DDR government of the time.

I don't know what you are going on about, Dresdner Neustadt (the new town) wasn't damaged (much) in the war and is largely intact. The bit rebuilt by the DDR is Dresden proper

Yes you are quite right. I am getting confused as it was the Altstadt that was destroyed in the bombing and that was the part rebuilt by the DDR. I apologise.
