Hello all,
I am completely disillusioned with corporate office jobs and looking for an escape, and working on the railways really appeals to me. I've always enjoyed travelling by train (when they aren't rammed) and being on my feet more and interacting with the public sounds more interesting than spreadsheets. So i've started exploring conductor roles.
Basically I had a few questions (some of which have been asked many times in the past but I don't know if things have changed, sorry!).
1) My ideal station would be Sheffield but there's no vacancies there currently and I wasn't sure if they were likely to be quite rare, with most vacancies in places like Leeds and Manchester. Is it likely to be a long wait?
2) I've done some research on base salary, commission, sunday working etc. and just wondered, after all those, what roughly would be the average conductors total full year salary?
3) With all the talk of conductorless trains etc. how secure is this line of work going to be?
Thanks!
