Welcome to the General Discussion forum of RailUK! In this section you can discuss things that don't fit into any of other sections of the Forum from news and politics to your favourite podcasts to sport and tech support queries we've had a thread at some stage on just about anything and everything. However just a few of bits of housekeeping before you dive into the discussion:
1. The Forum Rules do still apply fully to this section but please do particularly keep in mind those under the "Respectful" and "Appropriate" headings. Some threads, especially those related to politics, can get heated and whilst we have no problem with robust discussion and debate we do have to ask that members do not attack or deliberately provoke each other.
2. Please also remember the requirements when referring to an external source (such as news article) that you should provide a quote and a comment on what you've quoted. This helps to promote discussion but the quote also helps our members that use screen readers or have internet connections where some websites might be blocked as well as helping in future years when links may no longer work to articles that have been deleted or moved.
3. Finally, whilst we do have this General Discussion section please do recall that we are primarily a railway forum for people who want to discuss or read about railways. That means that we would expect that members posting on RailUK do make most of their contributions in the railway parts of the Forum. If you post almost exclusively in the General Discussion then it might be that another form of Social Media (such as Twitter or Reddit) or another web forum more focused on discussing, for instance, political issues might be better fit with your interests. As we are primarily a forum for discussing railways if posts which break the Forum Rules are being made by a member primarily in the General Discussion we may remove access to the section.
Thanks for reading!
