I remember years ago that some of the old EPB's were used as sandite units on the Southern region and that Network rail used them and other slam door stock for bits and pieces, are there any still lying around on the mainline anywhere? or sitting waiting in a corner siding at a depot somewhere untouched by a cutting torch? or did they all fall under the same rules as "mainline" stock at the time?

Eastleigh Arlington has MLVs in NR yellow in a row, but they’ve not moved in at least 2 years.

I think the old NR GLV's might be around somewhere (formerly HAP carriages).

Sadly I don't think there's much else. Used to be a splendid little collection of de-icing and sandite units at Chart Leacon a few years back.

I always used to see them round Ramsgate, there was a time when one was "dumped" at platform 1 in Rochester for about 2 weeks without moving before being moved to the little siding by platform 4, they used to be so commonplace, even after the networkers and electrostars took over which was the whole reason for the question. I have been away from there for nearly 20 years now but still think fondly of the older stock that used to go along the network.

Yes, I miss them all. EPB's, HAP's, VEP's, CEP's, CIG's, DEMU's. It's not the same without them :(
