Is this level crossing unique?

The level crossing at Wye station may be similar. It has traditional hand operated gates operated by an attendant with warning lights. No doubt those with better local knowledge can correct me..!

The last time I was in the area, both Wye and Chartham had crossing-keeper gates. According to Section C - The Signalbox (which I know is out of date), the gate boxes and manual gates were to be abolished this year as part of other resignalling schemes in the area

Next time I am in the area (in a couple of weeks) I will have a look and post back here - unless someone beats me to it in the meantime

Grain Manned Gates, Kent has had flashing roadlights for many years. This photo was taken by me in 2007.

Are there still semaphores at Grain?

Woodcroft has a crossing keeper, supervised from Helpston gatebox. All normal level crossings are CCTV crossings south of that location. Helpston oversees a number of CCTV crossings in its own right. The next manned crossing is Claypole gatebox which, like Helpston, oversees a number of CCTV crossings. Grassthorpe crossing is still a manned crossing supervised by Carlton-on-Trent gatebox. Ranskill gatebox oversees a number of CCTV, though its own crossing is not on CCTV. It also grants permission for a User Worked Crossing on the ECML.

Thanks. Had a look at those on Streetview. They're both tiny little lanes. I can understand not making them AHBs because of the line speed, but I'm surprised they weren't converted to MCB with CCTV years ago. Neither Woodcroft or Grassthorpe look like they're in particularly awkward positions either.

As an aside, there's some enormous crossings around Helpston! 6 tracks on a few of them, with big breaks in between some of the lines.

They are fairly minor lanes, so traffic flow isn't as high as some locations. Talking of Helpston; in the past each respective railway company had their own signal box and level crossing gates at that location, with a bit of no man's land in between.
