The problem is that they were advised to go via Manchester and Euston, which they could have done in a similar time (despite the Woking issues yesterday), for no extra cost - and with 100% delay repay.Since the passenger bought a new ticket in circumstances where Hull Trains was obliged to re-route them, would there be a valid claim for reimbursement of the additional ticket cost, here?
If the passenger asked for advice and was told to go via Manchester, arguably they were entitled to assume they were being re-routed.
Thst said, I agree that in this case (and more clearly for, say, Reading or Oxford) the XC option (or any other permissible route) should be allowed.
