Not sure if this is the right place for this question so perhaps Mods can move it to its rightful place.

Need to lock my bike up for a few hours at Kings Cross this coming Friday Lunchtime. The only cycle parking I’ve seen is actually on the platforms themselves (0, 1, 8, 9). If I’m arriving at Kings Cross and continuing my journey later from Euston the gate barriers probably won’t allow me onto the Kings Cross Platforms again to retrieve my bike I assume? Is it common for the gate staff to allow you through to retrieve your bike? I don’t really want to traipse up to Euston and leave it there as I have an appointment easily accessible by tube from Kings Cross. I think there is cycle parking in the Car Park at the back of the adjacent St Pancras but again it’s a bit out of the way if I need to get back to Euston sharpish (I’ve a cycle reservation for a particular departure from Euston).

There's also cycle parking in the central reservation of Pancras Road, at the Euston Road junction. Not as safe, but certainly easier to access. There's a couple of racks outside the side entrance to KX, but these are often full - there are, however, several as you go up King's Boulevard, and there's quite a lot of footfall & CCTV in that area.

Can't comment on whether or not you'd be let in - I've always had a ticket when using them. My feeling is that you'd have a better bet on the 0-8 than 9-11 barriers.

Well spotted the racks at the side entrance - I pass through Kings Cross Station at least 4 times a week and I've never noticed them despite walking to and from the St Pancras entrance/exit opposite. I must blindly walk straight past them.

Staff on 9-11 have always let me through for bike storage/retrieval with no problem.

Cool, I would use that, then. I had a (decent but deliberately not flash-looking) bike parked at KX, on various platforms, for 7 years, with no issue. I'd trust that a lot more than the racks outside.

Easy to miss them, as you tend to be focused on the fact that someone decided to put just-out-of-line-of-sight benched in the way of the direct route from the St Pancras crossing to the main station entrance!

I've used them when I need to pop into Boots or something on the way in (rather than lock the bike up on p0, back to Boots, back to p0) but would hesitate before leaving a bike there all day. That said, plenty people clearly do, as they're packed in at 4 bikes per Sheffield stand!
