Hi
Can anyone tell me what the rosters are for working at Kings cross (ie 4 or 5 day week) what time the earliest starts are and latest finishes.
Best/cheapest place to park if need be.

Thanks

Kings cross is majority 313 work and looks like kings cross work gets considerable worse from may with the diagramm change. They always have problems keeping drivers at kings cross as many move further north for better work and to get out of a London commute every day.

Lots of fiddles in the diagrams and easy to swap about to permanent earlies/lates etc and get rid of nights.

All FCC GN depots are a 4 week rest day cycle so long weekend every 4th week and currently roughly 2in 4 Saturdays worked which is pretty good compared to other TOCs. This is likely to change in December though when we start running to Moorgate at weekends- will considerably increase Saturday diagrams.

If you just do the 4day week it's not bad, just gets tedious if you hammer overtime as you end up living on the Welwyn and Hertford stoppers. Kings x do sign through to Cambridge and Peterbourgh though.

Future wise it's unlikely kings x will exist too much longer with thameslink. Looks like some kind of merger with blackfriars and a move to Finsbury or Hornsey.

4 day week. Rest days tend to follow a pattern of:

Wed, Thurs
Random weekday, Sat
(Sun) Fri,Sat
(Sun), Mon,Tue

So at the moment there is a short and a long weekend every four weeks. Some of them are spoiled by the Sunday being rostered to work though.
Sundays are outside the working week and are rostered approximately every other week, but you can put yourself 'not-available' if you don't want to work one.

There are rumours about Kings Cross Traincrew depot closing or being downsized and work moving to a new Traincrew depot at Hornsey, or amalgamating with Blackfriars. But there is also a rumour that Blackfriars depot will close and be amalgamated with London Bridge! Rumours, rumours, and more rumours. Don't worry too much, you will still have a job as the trains will still need drivers.

Including where Blackfriars merge with Kings Cross or we all go to Hornsey! Sure they make it up as they go along. :D
