At Tring the 4 tracks expand to 5 through the station. How is the fifth track used ?

Platforms 1 and 2 are the fast lines although I doubt if many, or even any, trains stop there.

Platform 3 is for LM northbound services. When I was there Platform 5 was used for all LM southbound services.

How is Platform 4 used ? Is it used as a southbound or northbound loop ? Or is it bi-directional ?

Platform 4 is used for the halfhourly services from Euston that terminate at Tring, it is classsed as the "up & down relief," so I guess it could be used for through trains, but platform 5 is the up slow.
