Leamington Spa - Wivenhoe, Super Off-Peak minimum connection time.

Say I'm on the outbound leg of a Super Off-Peak Return (restriction PV) from Leamington Spa to Wivenhoe.

For the outbound leg, the restriction is to not arrive at London Marylebone (or Paddington) before 11:30. Also, the outbound leg allows no break of journey.
Therefore, the first allowed connection that obeys the minimum connection time across London is to take the 10:23 Leamington Spa to London Marylebone (arriving 11:45), and then continue on the 13:00 London Liverpool St to Colchester and connecting towards Wivenhoe there.

Having travelled between Marylebone and Liverpool plenty of times in the past, I'd be confident (if there are no delays and I proceed promptly) to catch the 12:18 London Liverpool St to Wivenhoe. Would I be allowed to take this service? Or would taking this service imply that I must have taken an earlier service from Leamington or have started short? I guess you could rephrase the question to "do I need to obey minimum connection times?".

It's probably a technical detail, unlikely to be enforced, but I'd still be interested in the opinion of people who are the ticketing and T&Cs experts here :)

You can take any train between Liverpool Street and Wivenhoe with that ticket. Restrictions only apply to the part of the journey between Leamington Spa and Marylebone.

If you get to Liverpool Street in time for the 12:18 then just jump on board!

You do not have to “obey” minimum connection times, but if you have advance tickets the booking engines will use the minimum connection times for your itinerary.
Also, if you have flexible tickets, you need to “obey” the minimum connection times in order for Delay Repay to be valid. Your delay is calculated against the booked arrival time of services which honour the minimum connection times, even if you get an earlier train and it is delayed, it’s the booked arrival time of the services which honour the minimum connection times that is the starting point.

In your case any Delay Repay would be against a booked arrival time of 14:15 I think, not the 13:15 you might manage with the earlier service.

Worth noting that break of journey (BoJ) is permitted on this ticket as it is a type of Off-Peak ticket. As shown on the relevant page of National Rail Enquiries, which is replicated on most websites/apps when you buy your ticket:
Break of journey is permitted unless otherwise indicated by a restriction shown against the ticket's Restriction Code.
There is nothing in the text of code PV which rules out BoJ, so it is permitted.

I appreciate that BR Fares says it is not, but this is a case of "garbage in, garbage out" - it only shows you what is in the industry data feeds and doesn't sanity-check this (nor could it!). It therefore shows "break of journey is not permitted" because the industry data feed says BoJ is barred for the outward portion of ticket type code OPR.

But that data is wrong, since there is no general BoJ bar on OPR tickets - it is entirely dependent on the restriction code, which has no direct relationship to the ticket type code.

Aha, I've learned something there. Thank you. This information makes my original question void. Thanks all for clarifying.
