Wanting to travel to Carlisle (specifically to do the Settle - Carlisle line ) then have a couple of hours in the city itself, Then down to Manchester to stay the night.

Next day Manchester to Leeds around dinnertime

Carlisle 15:10 - Manchester 17:19 Advance £9.50

June 17th
Manchester 11:57 - Leeds 12:46 Advance £6.00


Total Price £27

This is the best thing I have found on advance tickets can it be bettered?

Do you hold any railcards or are you eligible for any?

If you dont then i think you have found the best price possible, although do note Advance tickets are for the booked train only, and do not give you any flexibility.

Manchester to Leeds is 50p less from Victoria on direct train via Halifax (2 per hour).

Yeah, done Stevenage to Carlisle, one way via East Coast to Leeds and Settle the other direct via West Coast for less!

Yeah, I've done Milton Keynes to Wolverton for less but I'm not sure that it's relevant.
