Yesterday I caught a train from Manchester Airport to Leeds, it was the Middlesbrough service which left MIA at 18:35, upon reaching Leeds at 19:53 it pulled into Platform 16. I've been catching trains from Leeds station since 1997 and have never been on a train that has entered Platform 16 in the 'wrong' direction before. Does this particular train always do that, or was there a particular reason?

I think that all the through platforms at Leeds are bi-directional, so there isn't strictly a "wrong" direction. I don't remember seeing any trains go into pl 16 the "wrong" way, but I have been on a train that went into pl 15 instead of the booked 16 before. I suspect it would either be that something was in the way in pl 15, or possibly the train is actually booked into pl 16: that might be for route knowledge purposes?

I've been on eastbound trains from/through 16 before as well as westbound trains from/through 15.

One reason for this move and others could be a move into 17 and preventing this ring blocked by a Manchester bound service
