The new shed at Leicester LIP is progressing well, with the first foundations having been built. Almost like it has appeared overnight!

It is being built in the space of where the previous middle sidings, which have now been lifted, were located. I believe this new shed is intended for use by GBRf, however, this will need to be confirmed.

Unfortunately I only have a pretty blurred shot of it, due to the rain on the windows, however you can make out the foundations and the size of how tall the shed it going to be.

I had a look to see when was the last time leicester depot (15A or before 15C) had brand new locos. From what I could see they had some new Class 08s in Sept. Oct. 1959.

Leicester a good 'halfway house' between the coasts and provides a route to the Peterborough facility.

I suppose it doesn't count as they're not officially allocated, but I have seen a Class 92 lifted in the existing workshop.

The contract to maintain the fleet at Leicester has been signed

Presumably this is the building?
It's strange that none of the news articles mention UKRL, leaving it a bit unclear what their involvement is.
