Hi, it looks like most photos of the 56s are taken from the end of the station platforms. Are there closer places to observe / take photos please? Cheers!

You can try taking some from swain street bridge (the big road bridge at the north end of the station)

https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/113583519@N03/16522680275/in/set-72157646506647537/

That photo was taken from the bridge looking back towards leicester station and the other side of that bridge is leicester depot (I do have a photo of the 56's from that bridge but not put it on Flickr yet)

There is also a side alley at that bridge that runs from the side of that bridge, along the side of the depot and up into a.... Ermmmm.... Less than reputable area?!. Don't get me wrong, you'll be safe but you won't want to hang around, I promise that. And to be fair, the views of the depot down this pedestrian alley aren't great as the foliage is quite think these days.

Swain street bridge is about a 5-10 minute walk from the station front.

Hope that helps!.

if you do try the bridge then do let me know how you found it. i seem to find people have mixed reviews of the bridge due to the area the bridge is in, but i really didnt find it too bad.

its gives a great opportunity to photograph trains approaching and departing from the north of the station as its quite straight and unobstructed on the approach.

if i get chance i will post my class 56 photo onto flickr and post the link for you on here
