A little action from today, thought I would try some shots with a telephoto from the old Keighley road.

Not quite your average WCRC ECS move:

Plus, a shot from Sunday a little further up the line at Appleby:

A rare midweek trip down to S&S, but a passing excursion caught my fancy:

Plus a 332 on ECS move:

Went down to Doncaster for a full day of photography on Monday, so early and back so late, I got to see the EMT trains at Leeds, so here are a few more for my collection:

I also found evidence of Northern planning a direct service to South Wales:

And a WCRC ECS move from Saltburn classied up the deserted station with some Pullman cars.

Some more local stuff:

66528 blasting through Steeton at full pelt on Monday:

And 47580 drifting through the station at walking pace this evening, returning from running a convoy of preserved locos to Butterley.

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
A pair of 66s coming down from Carlisle was enough to get me to go for a walk this evening and I realised I have never actually shot the evening London train coming through Steeton. Fixed that now, although disappointed it wasn't a 91. Try again tomorrow maybe?

Its Yorkshire Day, so a little down home local photography is in order:

Walking down last Friday to catch the first train of the day through to Leeds heralded a double freight session:

Then on Monday my normal light engine working:

And this morning some serious noise on an NR test train:

Another day, another test train through Steeton, must be popular at the moment:

Get my day off on a Tuesday thanks to BH Monday, but the good folk at DBS still gave me my normal Monday L/E running, plus an early running Redcar to Rylstone service passing just minutes after the New Biggin gypsum run to save an extra walk down, with both freighters just missing being bowled by 333s - not a bad day:

Also, a little more late night HST action from Leeds, with the NMT reversing in the station:

Some more of the usual local colour, still clocking up the DBS 66s on the Monday L/E run, very rare to see the same engine twice on this working. A 142 on the Morecambe train over the last two Mondays has been a little unusual. WCRC 47 hauled ECS has been thoroughly bowled both times though, only got a poor angle on the first and completely missed today's.

Ah well.

Have some more of the usual:

And I'm back, a combination of poor weather and my Nikon D600 having to go back to Nikon again to have the shutter replaced - 53,000 photos in 2 years is apparently just too much - has made this the first rail photography of the year. I'll be making up for it in coming weeks though.

I've not yet gotten a shot of the new GBRf Wellingborough to Skipton flow, nor of any of the VEC trains, so a convenient passing time of 0700 for both made for a worthwhile morning walk, Getting a 322 with the new yellow front ends was an added bonus.

Long long time no new pictures. This thread even got closed down, but I'm going to try and get some shine back on those rusty rails...
Thanks to yorkie for re-instating this thread.

From earlier today, Deltic D9009 passes Keighley with a London to Carlisle excursion:

Preceeded earlier that morning by 66508 running Leeds to Carlisle light engine:

Here's a moody night shot of a Class 150 at Skipton

And a 322 in updated livery at Keighley back in the summer:

And a little blast from past, found these two antique shots of 175s in Lancashire from 2005 hidden away in my photograph folders so thought I would upload them for historical interest if not picture quality.

Lets have some more:

A short term GBRf freight flow of limestone from Rylstone Quarry near Skipton to Immingham.

37075 had an unexpected run on the KWVR on Saturday 3rd after the 4F had a technical issue in the morning.

During the summer, BBC Films took over the KWVR for a film project, turning Keighley station into Portsmouth (I can already hear the railway historians frothing at all the inaccuracies this will cause!). It must be an interesting project as they would not reveal any information about what they were filming and nothing on their 'upcoming list' seems to fit. If anyone knows what it was, I would love to know:

Thanks Tim for reopening this thread.

The Aire Valley is my old stomping ground, and one I manage to get back to on occasion, so I enjoy your updates.

Thanks, glad you are enjoying it.

Had a rather frustrating week this week. Messed up my timings on Monday and missed a rare daylight RHTT working through Steeton by a minute.

So to make up for this, I went into Leeds on Tuesday via Woodlesford to see another early evening RHTT run. Fortunately I got the 20s and saw them again at Leeds, but a scheduled Freightliner service ran early and passed before I arrived.

Still, got some interesting night shots at Leeds.

As I am sure you know Leeds has not had a lot of freight running through it for many a year, but over the last year it has been busier than it has for a long time (in a relative sense) For instance on a Wednesday between about 12:30 and 14:30 there are 5 scheduled freight usually 66's or 60's.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm unusually off next Wednesday and I forgot about the Lindsey to Neville Hill tanks, might go for a lunchtime jolly. See if VTEC can schedule Claus91 to be there at the same time!

So the end is in sight for Northern Rail and I have a decent handful of units still to photograph in NR colours. Therefore I will be spending the next few months trying to track them down, the old fashioned way as much as possible (ie. show up and pray).

A trip last Wednesday to Leeds earned me 8 new Northern units, mostly 158s and 142s as well as almost finishing my 185s - just 185147 to go and I think I have that somewhere in my 'to be sorted' archive as well. A couple of my red pen shots:

I also secured a shot of the Claus 91:

And the Neville Hill tanks, although sadly 66 hauled:

As well as a quick stop off at the all new Apperley Bridge

Tim, this is a great thread for people that don't get to see the workings 'up north'.
Thanks. :D

Thanks for the comments. I like keeping the local photography going, my biggest regrets looking through my old film albums (which I will eventually scan in and upload) is that I have plenty of shots of HSTs and 91s, but few if any of the 308s or pacers on the Airedale Line in their original colours. Everyone shoots the interesting stuff, but in the future it is the more local stuff that is often fascinating to see.

A couple of Steeton 66s yesterday:

Doncaster to Rylstone Quarry L/E, a working I used to see every Monday, seems rather less common these days:
