From past experience, is it likely that operators currently selling tickets for 26th August will run the scheduled services, barring emergencies, signal failures etc? I'm looking at WMR and LNR but question applies to all operators, although I believe Northern might be a law unto themselves so maybe impossible to say at this stage.

Of course they could plan strike action to occur on this day/weekend, but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it. Just interested in general patterns at the moment.

You won't know about industrial action until two weeks in advance.

In any case, it will be a very busy weekend for travel.

IF your arrival time is crucial, allow plenty of extra time to get to where you want to go.

Thanks both. I'd assumed that already published itineraries would not be affected by engineering work as they usually hold off loading the tickets until they know what's happening. Time is not critical, I just need to be somewhere for the Tuesday, but obviously don't relish hanging around for hours.

If you are given a reservation, then yes that's correct, unless the engineering work is unexpected (such as the recently announced works near Appleby)

There is no way to know what might happen on any given dayz especially not this far in advance.

However if you can post your currently planned itinerary, people may be able to make suggestions to meet any particular criteria you stipulate.

It's just my usual one, Hereford to New Street on the 10:40, New Street to Liverpool on the 12:34. They don't do seat reservations.
For this purpose, 'counted place reservations' are also an indicator that the timetable has been confirmed.

I assumed by 'loading the tickets' you meant that Advance tickets are available, which require 'reservations' (whether or not a seat is specified).
