I's be most grateful if anyone can help me to tell my son and grandson what they are and the meaning of the white rectangular indicator boards that they have spotted whilst on the platform(s) at Alexandra Palace station and looking down onto the trackside/rails. I think they are spaced along the platform(s) but I've been sent only one pic. 990m and 90m and 6deg and a slider with a green button on it are what I can make out from the not at all291834d5-854a-446e-9237-a683435c3895.jpg clear picture. Are they very, very common I wonder or something more esoteric?

Many, many thanks , I've (such) a lot to learn! I'll go off and try to work out what the 990 and 90 stand for (I think they took the picture at Alexandra Palace station (but I don't think it is as much as 90m AMSL?), so maybe it was at another North London station.
