Thanks for providing the list! This is a fairly pointless nitpick but it strikes me that there's a lot of redundancy there - I've quoted one example but there are loads. As a passenger I'd say that "animals on the track" is sufficient information, without having to know the precise breed!
Bear in mind this is the updated list of reasons. Some TOCs haven’t updated their CIS (Chiltern Railways, ScotRail, Network Rail at Paddington, London Bridge etc) so you still get some old reasons too on some TOCs such as
‘A train fault’
‘Signalling problems’
‘Disruptive passengers’
‘Overhead wire problems’
Instead of
‘A fault on this train/a fault on a train in front of this one/a fault occurring when attaching part of the train’
‘A fault with the signalling system’
‘Passengers causing a disturbance on this train’
‘Damage to the overhead electric wires’
To be fair, I’m not sure Chiltern at least can update theirs due to Phil Sayer’s passing. They’d have to get a sound-a-like to record them.
Northern, Transport for Wales, Great Western Railway, Southern and South Western Railway can all announce the new reasons.
