I am having a few days here in early July and was wondering about the best places to watch the buses in the City Centre.

Can anyone help? Are Stagecoach and Arriva the sole operators or are there others?

Any assistance appreciated.

A lot of the enthusiasts hang around the bottom of Queen Square bus station opposite Lime Street station. Other locations are Pier Head and Liverpool One Bus Station on Paradise Street.

Operators include:

Stagecoach
Arriva
HTL
Peoplesbus
Ace Travel
Cumfybus
Avon (Wirral mainly)
A2B (Wirral only)
Halton Transport
Eazibus
Hattons (St Helens)
GHA Coaches (Ellesmere Port)

The big bus stations are in Liverpool 1 and Queens Square. Queens Square which is by St Georges Hall/ Lime Street is a very lively area and you will get a good idea of the big two operators services. If you like to watch and or take photographs, Pembroke Place will give you an idea of the buses serving the North End of the City. Not far away from Queens Square, you will see the Mersey Tunnel (Queensway) where the Cross River Services come and go.Good photo opportunities can be had there. Further across from the Tunnel is Dale Street where you will see a number of services going towards the Pierhead / Castle Street. Finally Liverpool 1 tends to get the South end of the City Buses. Mainly Arrriva/Stagecoach but you should also see Halton Buses as well.

Print out the map under Deerfold's link . It is very useful. Hope you enjoy yourself .

The junction of Queen Square-Whitechapel as you can take pics of the Cross River buses, as outbound the Cross River route is Sir Thomas Street-Whitechapel-Crosshall Street, inbound Cross River route is Whitechapel-Crosshall Street, as well as Liverpool buses
