Hi, I saw a few movements on RTT which I was confused about. They state they are LNER light locomotive movements to/from Peterborough L.I.P. pathed as diesel locos at 75mph max. Does anyone have any insight into this they can share please? I can't imagine what it'd be. Thank you

It goes through Lincoln which would, to me, hint route learning for upcoming diversions via Lincoln. Obviously I don’t know that for for sure and no expert so could be completely wrong.

Old paths still in the system, which won’t run.

LNER drivers no longer sign 67s since they stopped using thunderbird loco, which is what these would of been.

If LNER do route learning now, on the Lincoln route they would use a 5/9 car bimode Azuma.

Have the thunderbird 67s definitely stopped now? I was under the impression they were still going. I'll delete them from the Route/Traction knowledge thread if that's the case.

Yes, however a Thunderbird is still provided at Newark which is usually a WCRC Class 47. This loco often makes a light engine run to and from Doncaster, Peterborough or similar location.

67s were stopped May/June and the contract to hire them ceased. LNER do not provide drivers now for Thunderbirds.

network rail now lease 2 locos for thunderbird duties, from West Coast Railways, crewed by them and should be staffed 24/7.

Thanks both. Surprised ASLEF didn't kick off about the work going out to a third party, but if it's NR paying the bill I guess there isn't much they can do.

Since the Aslef dispute the Thunderbird diagram was often uncovered.

There was several times Mk4s failed with no driver available for thunderbird.

Where are the drivers based?
