LNER have published the new timetable with the long awaited and promised direct services from Lincoln Central to Kings Cross.
Unfortunately there's no actual start date for the services, but they are in the timetable, so it's going to happen...fingers crossed. The current one train each way remains unchanged, the new services are extensions to the KGX-NNG services.
Unfortunately the proposed services don't really lend themselves to being that well used. A day out in London from Lincoln still means using the 07:30 as there's almost a four hour gap until the next direct service arriving in KGX well after 13:00. Then its more or less every two hours until the last leaving LCN at 17:14. Coming north is much the same, the first arrival from KGX doesn't arrive until 12:04, then it's two hourly until the last at 19:06
Although the proposed services are Monday - Saturday, there's no change at all on a Sunday, with the single KGX-LCN at 19:06.

While these services are very welcome and needed, (Lincoln having a population of over 100,000) a more even spread through the day would be much better and I'm sure lead to much more patronage.

I've long been puzzled that Lincoln does not have a (semi) regular service to Kings Cross.

They tried a few years ago, IIRC the rolling stock was going to be 180s. But in one of the many franchise failures it was abandoned, and the 180s ended up elsewhere.

Last proposed for the 2011 timetable...

The Lincoln services were binned when the ECML operator decided not to take on 180s. The services are now the Kings Cross - Newark, which due to blocking platform 3 at Newark made some Lincoln connections worse than before.

Most of them will start running through to Lincoln from September with an extra 0800ish northbound and 1930ish southbound from December.

Should all the ECML plans come to fruition Lincoln will see a speeded up 2 hourly service taking around 1hr41 eventually.

Thanks for taking the time to find the existing forum thread discussions, confirming what I sort of remembered...
