Hopefully, the semi fasts will get more used as people cotton on to them. I'm certainly fed up of defending 'short forms' or capacity reduction as some see it when most hours still have 8 cars, just split back to the higher frequency
LNR - Does anyone know which services are currently scheduled for 8 cars and which for 4 cars for Monday to Friday, Saturday & Sunday diagrams ?

The LNR website information for 'How busy is my train ' ( which shows how many seats are scheduled for each train service) has not been updated from the old timetable which ended in Dec. 2023.

The problem of course being the same one as happened with XC at Operation Princess - if you double the frequency, you need to go longer as well as the service is more attractive. You can't just go from 8 once an hour to 4 twice an hour and not expect overcrowding.

Of course the 730s will deliver exactly that, but it'll be a painful couple of years in the meantime.

I'm almost certain that pre-covid it was 2tph with 4 car trains most of the day. Not sure about in the peaks. 1tph with 8 cars has only been since covid if I remember correctly.

So it is now slowly going back to the status quo, which is great for Liverpool to Cross Country connections at Birmingham for example.

It seems that just 1 train each way mid-evening is an 8! As I said before, it's Operation Princess all over again: make the service superficially more attractive but with no extra capacity at all. It's not even as though those trains have ever been lightly-loaded (in my experience - and I haven't travelled in rush hour either.)

Many thanks for the information.
Good to see that many of the Saturday and all of the Sunday services are scheduled to be 8 cars.

Not to mention at Crewe for the EMR to Derby.

It's been costing me a fortune at Greggs during the 52m wait!
