LNWR Smartcard season ticket

I wish to buy a season ticket from tomorrow (Wednesday) for my Smartcard.

But when I try to order online it says

"Unavailable: Available from 01 September, edit your start date to allow time for delivery."

Am I being thick or is "delivery" irrelevant with a Smartcard? Do I get my season ticket put on the Smartcard at a ticket office? Surely the whole point of the Smartcard is to avoid having people queuing for their season tickets on Monday mornings?

Yes already got a Smartcard added to my online account. I just assumed that you could purchase the season ticket online!

I am struggling to see why you are encountering a problem. The LNWR website indicates that a season is available to 'collect' on a smartcard 2 hours after purchase by tapping "on a self service machine or a ticket barrier". It doesn't seem to have any objection to selling a season to start on the same day as it is purchased.

Have you already got a Smartcard? Is it added to your online account? You'd need to either upload it at a gate or a TVM at least if you didn't want to go to a ticket office.
Yes already got a Smartcard added to my online account. I just assumed that you could purchase the season ticket online!
Are you physically in possession of the Smartcard?

With the ISAM based device delivery window being up to two hours LNR may have barred same day card fulfilment
If it was going to do that it really shouldn't allow selection of today's date. As it is, the only reason I couldn't proceed to a payment option was that the site would not accept any of the smartcard numbers I have available. For the journey I selected no other fulfilment method was offered.

And the gate won't open if you buy it for a future date and try to use it beforehand.

Yes, I am physically in possession of smartcard.

I ended up going to the ticket office who also said they couldn't put a season ticket on the Smartcard, so I just bought a paper one!

Was your journey within 2 hours of purchase?

Yes, I originally asked the website for a season ticket from the 2nd September at around 1900 on the 1st September.

I've just checked and can add a Newcastle to Manors season to my Smartcard starting tomorrow, in fact I can even get one for today. What was the origin and destination you were trying to book?
