510 seems to be abit of an odd one. Was supposed to be donating various parts to the 37/4 project but dosent seem to be doing anything at the moment - possible reprieve then?

Next locos to go look set to be some of the god awful ex EWS 37/4s sat around the back of Kingmoor. Mind you, having said god awful - in terms of the state their in, HNRC is bringing back 402/405 & has brought back 409 - Wonder how much new metal work they've all received.

Assuming locos which are in a scrap yard or sold to the scrap man, the following would seem likely to be on their way sooner rather than later - saying that, there is the expectation that some of the 56s sold to EMR will be sold on for re-use;
EMR Kingsbury; 08646/783/921, 09023/107, 56031/032/038/049/069/074/104/106
Crewe (sold to EMR); 56037/077
Wembley (sold to EMR?); 37800/884
TJ Thompson; 08662, 09205
CF Booth; 37428, 47829
Eastleigh (sold to CFB?); 58002/017/037
LNWR Crewe (sold to Europhoenix 86621/635/637

There is, of course, a considerable list of locos in private hands which will be destined for the scrap yard eventually - the collection of demics at West Coast at Carnforth for example, once they have served their purpose as sources of spares; 37165/517/710, 47194/236/368/492/526 amongst others surely have no future.

Anyone have an idea what the builders plate from a 37 would cost?

Robert

Recent sales have varied between 280GBP (37268) and 694GBP (37195)

37134 went for 374GBP, 37257 for 582GBP, 37177 for 437GBP, 37040 for 650GBP.

There has certainly been a drop off in recent times of locomotive going for scrap. I guess this is purely result of the large scale culling that occured since the advent of the class 66 in the UK. On a side note is there any likelihood of DBS having one more tender to get rid of their last few demic shunters and 56/58's as I assume they wll sit on the 60's for awhile yet.

Also there does seem to be have been a large scale attempt by DBS and NR to dispose of redundant wagon fleets. Has this process nearly been completed? If so and with few if any passenger vehicles due for disposal in the next few years we could be entering leaner times for the scrapman.

Well, it isn't being cut up yet. The roof has been removed by some reps from the Mid Norfolk Railway but it is still in sort of one piece because some useful parts are still on that loco.
The three 58s (58002/017/037) mentioned above have been sold to EMR to CF Booth's.
And some others can be added to the list. At CF Booth's, Rotherham are also 37416/417/427
Thanks, Sam

On a train somewhere in Europe
37880 and 884 are finally on the move to Kingsbury, currently en-route from Wembley to Bescot and booked to be tripped from there to Kingsbury first thing this morning.

Not exactly correct, as far as i know of The Mid Norfolk Railway has had nothing to do with HNRC's 47829 - As much as a liked 47829, It will sadly / happily donating various parts, including it's roof to the Pioneer Diesel Group's currently under restoration, Class 47484 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel'

You can read about the Pioneer Diesel Groups activities here:

Someone on the WNXX Forum stated they were at CF Booth's (this was a couple of weeks back) and said that some reps from the MNR were there removing some roof parts off 47829.

In other news; 37406, 37410 and 37426 (currently located at Carlisle Kingmoor) have been sold to CF Booth's :(

Thanks, Sam

I was at Booth's last weekend and can confirm it was the Pioneer Diesel Group guys who were busy stripping 47829.
