Spoke to someone who recently interviewed for Willesden, said there's currently no courses set for NXG at all and nothing planned either, which is very annoying. I was also told they'd just passed out 10 new drivers for NXG recently so that may have something to do with it.

Haha I’ll try.
Moonie did you have any luck with getting an update?

It’s such a pain being stuck in the dark, I’d rather they gave a date to us all and stuck to it, even if it is April or any other date, just the not knowing is playing havoc. Can’t plan my year until we know lol everything is on hold

No luck, I emailed to request an update of any available start dates for next year. Response was that there’s no news of any start dates for NXG. Also asked if my application on the new portal has gone through, response for that was it’s gone through.

Waiting for NXG, was initially told I'd be starting in September 2024 but then got a call to say early 2025
I got a feeling that may be pushed back a little now they have advertised for Qualified for NXG. Spoke to DFC and they say coz the concession is in the last year they are trying to save money and go for the cheaper and quicker option of recruiting Qualified drivers. I think even the Willesden trainee course may get pushed back also, but will prob know more in the New Year once everyone is back to work.

Morning all,

Spoke to a mate of mine, he reckons maybe April (ish) will be when there's a new course date.

Also, anyone have the link for the portal? I can't seem to find the login details for the portal anywhere. Cheers in advance.

When did you speak to someone about early 2025? Recently?

Is the April start date for trainee drivers or qualified?

I spoke to recruitment in January and was told that they aren't expecting to start a drivers course at NXG this year. Also the driver manager interview only has 6 month validity, so when the job does come out again, we'll have to do another DMI

I keep getting told the same thing, so I guess it’s a waiting game. Thank god the assessments are valid for 5 years. DMI isn’t to bad out all the assessments, even though we shouldn’t have to tbh

Afternoon all,

Spoke to one of the recruitment team the other day, they said if a vacancy comes up again for trainee driver, all those in the talent pool of NXG would have to re-apply again. Absolutely farcical if you ask me. So poor.

I know there are 8 Willesden and 8 NXG trainee positions pencilled in to start the course in Jan 26. Experienced drivers are taking priority this year. Recruitment is super poor since it left ARL directly and went to Arriva group.

New Vacancy

Approx 20 newbies needed as lots of retirements and lateral transfers are being granted

Take the closing date with a pinch of salt. ARL tend to close these when they reach a certain amount of people which generally happens quickly.

Good luck!

In attempt to trial a move towards TOC driver recruitment being discussed in one thread per company, I’ve merged today’s vacancy into the existing thread from a previous campaign (and changed the thread title to reflect this.) This approach is instead of having a different thread for each vacancy/campaign.

I hope the experience of existing candidates can help those new to the process, etc :)

Thanks Bob. Yeah I've not heard of any NXG courses at all. Spoke to recruitment and head of drivers. None are aware. But would be great if this was the case

I got a query, for those who are currently in talent pool New Cross Gate waiting from last year for the start date of October 2024 for trainee train driver, would we be considered for Willesden Trainee Train driver currently being advertised?

I've queried this with the Union this week, as someone did ask and was told no by recruitment if you are outside the 60mins from Willesden. It was much simpler to do when ARL handled the recruitment and they weren't too strict with the 60min rule. With Arriva recruitment they aren't as flexible.
